Although this is our core team, there are, of course, many more people who are helping in many ways - from giving advice to lending a helping hand.

One of the benefits of being a senior car designer is that I work with, and have access to, people who are among the best in their field of expertise.

Special thanks to:

Gary, Jim, Jeff, Dean, Rich and all the guys in K-Studio for helping me out and putting up with stuff.

Don, Greg, Darryl, Dave & Dave, Ed, John & John, Gerry, Jim, Bill, Jeff Al and Carl and all the guys in the plastic shops - thanks for your invaluable input in the fiberglass work.

Tom, Lee, Mike, Bob, Doug, Rodney, Dave, Dwane, Sean, Byron, Will, Mario, Bob, Tony & Tony and everybody in the metal shops - the best metal guys in town, your input has been unbelievable!

Marty, Mark and all the guys in the paint shop - I’ll try to keep the shiny side up!

Brian, Joe and all the scanning guys - thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Garen, Brad, Dean - fellow designers who don’t mind getting their hands dirty and are always only a phone call away.

Hak Soo and Doyle for continually encouraging me in this attempt.

Tony Ingram and Spadge Hopkins - more than specialists,  these guys are gurus in the Ginetta world.  For your insight and patience in answering endless emails and supplying multiple parts - thanks chaps!

Pete and Marco - Thanks for jumping in.

Without these guys the car would be nowhere! They are always up for helping out and giving advice. I have spoken to so many of them I am sure I have forgotten somebody - sorry if I did, let me know and I’ll buy you a beer!

Edson Rowley

Chief mechanic, welder and electrician. As a Jackson College instructor and member he has been building, driving and racing cars for over 20 years.  He works as a certified collision expert at an independent collision shop and spends all his spare time working on his race car. Currently leads 2 (!) circle track championships in his Neon.  Has already proven to be worth his weight in gold as a mechanic during the 2007 ‘24hrs of Lemons’ where he lay on his back in the dirt for 2 hours replacing the clutch for a car he was not even driving.

Who We Are

Restoring, preparing and setting up a car for a record attempt is a daunting task. At the event itself there are so many things to think about and execute that it is essential to have a team of people making sure all areas are covered.

We are very lucky that we have a team of people with extraordinary skills who are willing to help out and who are as passionate about the record attempt as we are.

Rick Byrnes

Crew chief, mentor, consultant, and general source of mostly useful knowledge. As a retired Ford engineer he not only has the know-how, but has been going to Bonneville for 20 years and has broken numerous records on the Flats. He is a lifetime 200mph club member and was the driver and consultant for Ford’s 999 Hydrogen Fusion.

On top of that he is the nicest guy. Also have to thank his wife Glenys for letting us “borrow” him for lengthy periods of time.

Frank Schwartz

Carb tuner, adviser and crew member - a very busy guy!  ‘Fiesta Frank’ has raced Ford Fiestas for decades, and, as an avid motor sports fan, is always up for a kart race. In fact he organizes and hosts the bi-annual “Designer Night at the Races Spinelle Cup”

Bregt Ectors

Owner, Driver.  As all car designers do, loves beautiful cars. Came close to making the 2005 Rotax Max World Championship in Malaysia with a 9th position in the US Nationals in his rookie year. As a Senior Designer for Ford Motor Company his aim, as well as making the car “record ready’, is to make it look great. His motto is: “If I can’t go fast I will at least look good doing it”

Helen  Ectors

Owner, business partner.  Using her experience as Director of Creative Business for a large ad agency, she runs the business and communications side of the project. Tracks every part, tool and invoice, manages the schedule, makes sure the bills get paid, updates the website and generally organises everything so that I can focus on the ‘fun stuff’.  Very handy with a camera, she’s also responsible for most of the photos in the build blog.
